Looby Macnamara
Activating Cultural Emergence

Looby Macnamara is author of People and Permaculture, 7 Ways to Think Differently and Strands of Infinity. People and Permaculture is the first book globally to translate the use of permaculture principles and design for people based systems, widening the definition of permaculture and making it relevant and accessible to all.

She is creator of the Design Web, a holistic design framework that has been used thousands of times globally for all sorts of personal and social designs. She has supported the development and growth of permaculture nationally through her input as a trustee of the Permaculture Association (Britain) for 5 years (2001-2006) and was the Chairperson for two of these. She is still an active member of the permaculture community and is a senior diploma tutor. She is currently training 8 Shields staff in the Design Web and is supporting 8 Shields in their design process.

Looby lives on a 20 acre smallholding in the UK where she runs Applewood Permaculture Centre, an education and demonstration center, with her partner Chris Evans. Here and at other venues globally she teaches Permaculture Design Course, facilitator trainings, advanced design, Cultural Emergence courses and many more innovative courses.

She is researching and developing Cultural Emergence with other visionaries and leaders including Jon Young, Starhawk, and Maddy Harland. Cultural Emergence is a profoundly effective toolkit to support personal and global shifts towards a regenerative culture. and will be shared in her forthcoming book Activating Cultural Emergence.
